Meet Coach Darren, one of the longest-standing members of the Gala FC family. Having been with the club since its early days and officially joining in 2014, Coach Darren has brought enthusiasm, experience, and a genuine love for the game to the field for many years. His coaching philosophy is simple: keep learning every year and inspire players to do the same. While his teams have earned their share of medals and trophies, his greatest pride comes from watching players grow, improve, and enjoy the game.

This year, Coach Darren is leading two teams at Gala FC—our 2013 Black and 2014 Black teams—helping guide young players as they continue developing their skills and confidence. In addition to his work in the field, Darren is also helping the club behind the scenes by providing administrative support, assisting with team rostering and organization.

When it comes to soccer, Darren believes it’s “health and life, all rolled into one.” He admires Lionel Messi for his incredible skill and creativity and holds jersey numbers 99 and 8 close to heart—numbers proudly worn by his kids during their time playing at Gala.

Even on Seattle’s rainy days, Coach Darren keeps things in perspective with his classic reminder: “Suck it up, buttercup! We live in Seattle—sometimes it’s wet.” His dedication to the game is fueled by his dream of one day witnessing World Cup action live.

For Coach Darren, success isn’t just about talent—it’s about being coachable, staying positive, and being a great teammate. At Gala FC, he continues to share his passion for the game while helping young players build skills, teamwork, and a lifelong love for soccer.
